goのイメージ
go は「行く」と訳されるが、イメージは「元の場所から出ていき、進んでいく」。この例文の go は「仕事探しが進んでいく」ということ
文全体は、How’s it going? などよく使われる形
② I’d be surprised if I got an interview.
仮定法
仮定法は「事実に反する・可能性が著しく低い」ことを表す形
作り方のポイントは「時表現を過去方向にずらす」こと
この例文の if節内では「面接できたら」と本来現在形を用いるべきところを、got と過去形が用いられている。本来の時表現と離れるところに「現実離れ」というニュアンスが宿る
結びの節は would, could, might など「控えめな助動詞」を用いる。現実離れした想定に対し、will, can, may といった現実的で強い意味を持つ形は使うことができない

I’d be surprised if ~ は、可能性の低さを表すカジュアルな頻用表現。仮定法の形を含めしっかり練習する
① It’s unlikely that he hasn’t noticed.
He is unlikely to have forgotten.
→ likely の逆が unlikely（しそうにない）で、この2文は典型的な形
② It’s doubtful that I’ll be selected.
→ doubtful（疑わしい・ありそうもない）を使ったフレーズ
③ There’s little chance (that) this can be repaired.
There’s not much hope of fixing the damage.
→ little は「ほとんどない」、a little は「少しある」なので、しっかり区別する
There’s little chance で「ほとんどチャンス・可能性がない」
much hope（たくさんの希望）を not で否定し「希望はあまりない」
④ He hasn’t got a prayer of succeeding.
He doesn’t have a prayer of succeeding.
→ prayer は「祈りの言葉」で、それを持たないところから「（成功の・勝つ）チャンス がない」となる。カジュアルな言い回し
