2⃣ 今日は6時から会社の創立記念パーティが近くのホテルで行われる予定です。でもあなたの部署はギリギリまで仕事中。「もう５時半ですよ」と言う部下に応答してください。
Staff member: Boss, it’s already 5:30.
You:
①分かった。今日はここまでにしよう。ホテルまではタクシーで15分しかかかりません。
②私たちは間に合うと思いますよ。

O: Hey guys. When did you feel that it’s true that “Persistence pays off”?
C: Well, when I was at uni, I wanted to join the university table tennis team.
But when I went to the trial, I failed. And the second trial, I failed.
But the third time, I beat those guys, and I got chosen to represent the university.
So for me, persistence paid off.
O: How about you, Roza?
R: For me, actually it was when I was starting to do Nihon-gami.
I would do Nihon-gami once a week, every week for over two years. And finally, it started to look nice.

・take time は「時間がかかる」、時間を「手に取って使う」イメージ
・I think の後は、it ~ to … の形の文

・They say ~（～と言われている）は、世間一般で言われていることを述べる常套句
・Persistence pays off の直訳は「粘り強さは実を結ぶ」で pay off は「（努力や計画などが）実を結ぶ・うまくいく」
※ Hard work always pays off. もよく言いますよね！

・make it は「成し遂げる」、in time は「間に合って」→ make it in time は「間に合う」
