☆GRAMMAR AND VOCABULARY
see のイメージ
Can you see the prototype on your screen?
あなたの画面で試作品は見えますか？
see は「見える」 – 積極的な動作ではない。映像が頭に入ってくる感覚
ここでも「試作品が見える」という意味
こうした「向こうからやってくる」感覚を表す動詞と can は非常に相性よく使われる
I can see ~ (～が見えます)
I can hear ~ (～が聞こえます)
I can smell ~ (～のにおいがします)
など
目的語説明型 (SVOC)

相手のニーズを先取りし、助力の可能性を申し出ている
こうしたニーズの先取り表現にはいろいろある
①be happy to ~
We are happy to provide more information.
追加情報を喜んで提供します。
Lesson49 で出てきた be happy to ~ (喜んで〜する) は、「準備がありますよ」という趣旨であるため、相手の困った状況に対しても、ニーズの先取りにも使える
be open to ~ は「～を受け入れる用意がある」という中立的な表現であるのに対し、be happy to ~ は好意的な感情を含む表現
②be willing to ~
We’re willing to make small adjustments if needed.
必要であれば、多少の調整には応じます。
be willing to ~ は「～するのをいとわない・〜してもかまわない」
状況や要請に応じてやってもよい、程度。かなり「引いた」助力の申し出
③be prepared to ~
We‘re prepared to provide additional support.
追加のサポートを提供する準備があります。
prepared (準備ができた) は、そうした覚悟があり具体的な段取りも決まっている感触がある
④be ready to ~
We‘re ready to assist you whenever you need help.
助けが必要なときはいつでもお手伝いできる準備が整っています。
ready も「準備がある」だが「すぐにできますよ」と即時対応に重きがある
☆PRACTICAL USAGE
[夢を語りましょう]
「声優になることが私の人生の夢です。簡単ではないことはわかっていますけどね。必要なことは何でもやる覚悟です」
【解答例】
Becoming a voice actor is my life’s dream. I know it won’t be easy, though. I‘m prepared to do whatever it.
【解説】
・最初の文で「動詞-ing形」が主語として使われている。こうした形が気軽に使えると、表現力が豊かになります！
・though が文末に使われ「～だけどね」となっている。although にはない使い方
・be prepared to ~ が使えれば合格！
・whatever は「何でも」
・take は「かかる」なので「それに何がかかろうとも」ということ
