本当にやらかした。ケイトとのデートをすっぽかしちゃって、それから彼女、メッセージに返してもくれないんだ。
※mess は「ぐっちゃぐちゃの状態にする」なので mess up は「大失敗」でしょうね
**rough: (状況が) つらい、厳しい、大変な、災難な

※What happened? (何があったんですか？) を気軽に使えるように覚えておきましょう！
**completely: 完全に、全面的に
**show up: (予定の場所に) 現れる
I completely forgot and didn’t show up.
完全に忘れてて、行かなかった。
※show up は「出現する」、up は地面からニョキニョキと上に上がってくるニュアンスです
**That hurts.: それは傷つきますね。(それは痛みますね。)
**honestly: 正直に

うわっ。うん、それはショックだよね。正直に言って、今すぐ電話して説明したほうがいいと思う。
※hurt が自動詞で使われており「痛む」です。他動詞だと「(～を) 傷つける」です！
**definitely: 確かに、間違いなく、疑いなく

メッセージより電話のほうがいいかな？ – 絶対に。
**apologize: 謝罪する、謝る
**make excuse: 言い訳をする、弁解する

謝って、相手の話を聞かなきゃ。言い訳はしないで – わかった…。そうする。応援してて。

☆GRAMMAR AND VOCABULARY
意志の will の否定 won’t
She won’t reply to my texts.
彼女は私のメッセージに返答しようとしません。
won’t は will not の短縮形
will には
・予測 (～だろう)
・意志 (～するよ)
の使い方があるが、この won’t は「意志」の使い方 -「～しようとしない」
比較のバランス
You think calling is better than texting?
あなたは、電話をするほうがメッセージを送るよりいいと思いますか？
You think の後ろの従属節 calling is better than texting では、calling (電話すること) と texting (メッセージを送ること) が同じ「動詞-ing形」であることにより、何と何が比較されているのかが鮮明になっている
