☆Grammar and Vocabulary

説明型オーバーラッピング(SVC)

I feel pretty confident about the kanji now.

この文の型は、説明型オーバーラッピング(SVC)

be動詞文同様、主語の説明を行っている

この文も基本は「I = pretty confident ~」

ただ、be動詞とは異なり実質的な意味を持つ feel (感じる) が使われているため、その意味が文全体にオーバーラップし

「I = pretty confident ~ (に感じる)」

という意味となっている

圧力の on

Now you just have to concentrate on that part.

concentrate と on が結びついて「~に集中する」となっているのは、偶然ではない

同じく「集中する」を意味する focus も on と結びつく

この on は「圧力の on」(4月号 Lesson 6)

「上に乗っている」というイメージが「下に圧力を加えている」感触を生み出している

集中する際には対象にぐっと力が及ぶ。なので on が使われている
