①ヘレンのお別れ会の準備をするために、上司が午後休をくれたんだよ。パーティーの件、覚えているよね？
The boss gave me the afternoon off to prepare for Helen’s goodbye party. You remember the party, right?
・prepare for ~ は「〜の準備をする」。前置詞 for の「向かって」のイメージが使われている
・remember は「覚えている・忘れないでいる」
**afternoon off: 午後休
**goodbye party: お別れ会
②6時から始まるから遅れないでね、いい？
It starts at 6:00, so don’t be late, OK?
・starts と現在形が未来を表している。バスや電車の時刻表、式次第など、確定した事態は未来の出来事であっても現在形を用いる
