1⃣ あなたは会社を辞めようと思っています。同僚に秘密裏に相談しましょう。
Coworker: So, what’s up? What did you want to talk about?
同僚: それで、どうしたの？何について話したかったの？
You:
①ここだけの話なんだけど、会社を辞めようかと思っているの。
This is just between you and me, but I’m thinking about leaving the company.
・This is just between you and me, but が前置きで使われ「秘密なんだけど」を表している (Lesson 17)
② まだ次にどこへ行くか決めていないし、自分が本当に何がしたいのかもまだはっきりしていないの。
I haven’t decided where to go next yet, and I’m still not sure what I really want to do.
**decied: ～を決める
・haven’t decided で現在決めていない状態にあるということ
・where to ~ は「どこに〜するべきか」
2⃣ 妻に結婚記念日のアイディアを求められました。応答しましょう。
Wife: Any ideas for our anniversary this year?
妻: 何か、今年の結婚記念日のアイディアはある？
You:
①来週、近所に新しいイタリアンレストランがオープンするって聞いた？
Did you hear that a new Italian place is opening in our neighborhood next week?
**neighborhood: 近所
・Did you hear that ~? ができたら合格 (Lesson 18)
・Italian place (イタリアの場所)で、漠然と「イタリアンレストラン」を示している
②結婚記念日には、そこを試してみてもいいなと思っていたんだ。ちょっとした私たちへのごほうびになるかもね。
I was thinking we could try it for our anniversary. It could be a nice little treat for us.
**(wedding) anniversary: 結婚記念日
・could は can の控えめ表現。自信を持って「できるよ」ではなく「できるかも」
・It could be ~ でも could は「なりうる」ではなく控えめな「なるかもしれない」
