D: You’re talking about your goat, aren’t you?

**barely: ほとんど～ない、かろうじて
Claire, you’ve barely had a break all day. Are you sure you’re OK?

**constantly: いつも、絶え間なく

☆GRAMMAR AND VOCABULARY
現在完了形
You‘ve barely had a break all day.
あなたは一日中ほとんど休んでいません。
この文で使われている現在完了形 (have + 過去分詞) のイメージは 「(今に) 迫ってくる」
この文では all day (一日中) を、その始まりから現在に向けて視線がたどっている
barely は「ほとんど～ない・かろうじて」
about の「焦点」
It’s about making things easier for you.
それは、あなたにとって物事をより楽にするためなのです。
about のイメージは「周り」
この文は、it (私の提案) が making things easier for you の「周り」にあるということ
この位置関係が、提案の「中心」「焦点」「目標」が making things easier ~にあることを示している

I suggest hiring a housekeeper.
ハウスキーパーを雇うといいんじゃないかな。
suggest は「～するといいんじゃないかな」
提案を表す重要動詞、気軽な動詞
ここでは「動詞-ing形」を目的語にしたが、suggest は名詞や節も従えることができる、使い勝手のいい基本動詞
①suggest + 名詞
I suggest a break.
休憩したらいいんじゃないかな。
suggest の目的語に「提案内容」を表す名詞を使った形
②suggest + 節
I suggest we have a burger.
ハンバーガーがいいんじゃないかな。
suggest は、節を続けたリポート文の形も得意
節内部の動詞は原形であることに注意！
suggest の内容はまだ実現していない、そのため現在の事実を表す現在形を使うことはできない

I think we should check the schedule again.
私たちはもう一度スケジュールを確認したほうがいいと思う。

あなたは～すべきだと思う
というアドバイスの形は → 6月号 Lesson43 – アドバイスと提案の表現は似通っ ている
「提案」は自分たちに向けたナイスなアイデア – 「アドバイス」でもあるから
you を we にすれば、I think we should ~ という提案表現が生まれる

[昼ごはんのために友人と人気店の行列に並んでいます。「この行列、まだまだかかるよね」と言われて]
「ランチはどこか別のところに行ったほうがいいと思う。このペースだと、閉店前に席に座れそうにないよ。さぁ行こう。近くに店を知ってるんだ」
【解答例】
I think we should go somewhere else for lunch. At I this rate, we won’t get a seat before they close. Come on. I know a place close by.
【解説】
・I think we should ~ ができれば合格！
・somewhere else は「どこかほかの場所」- else の使い方に慣れること
・at this rate は「このペースでは」- rate は「速度・割合」で「計算された」が原義
・close by は「近くに」
