・軽い謝罪のあとに I have a lot on my plate. が言えたら合格 (Lesson 97)

②経済学のリポートをやっていて忙しくて、思ったより時間がかかってるんだ。君はもう終わったの？

I’m busy working on my economics report, and it’s taking longer than I expected. Have you already finished yours?

**economics report: 経済学のレポート

・「be動詞 + busy + 動詞-ing形」はよく使われる形。何をしていて忙しいのか、その説明が「動詞-ing形」

・than I expected は「私が予想していたより」。than の後ろに節が来る形に慣れておくこと

2⃣ お寿司屋さんのカウンター席を予約しましょう。

Restaurant staff: Thank you calling Sushi Yamaga. How may I help you?

You:
①明日の7時半に2名で予約をお願いしたいのですが。可能であれば、カウンター席をお願いできますか？

I’d like to make a reservation for two at 7:30 tomorrow. If possible, could we have seats at the counter?

**seat at the counter: カウンター席

・I’d like to ~ や Could we ~? など、きちんとした言葉遣いをすること。希望があるなら臆せずに言おう

・if possible は「もし可能なら」

②エバンスの名前で予約をお願いします。それで問題がないか教えてください。

Put it under the name Evans. Please let me know if that works.

・if that works は「それでOKかどうか」ということ
