Lesson 146 言葉で人を動かす動詞① – ask

O: Hey, this is exactly what I always think in a French restaurant. I wish I had a pair of chopsticks.

ask は「言葉で人を動かす動詞」
目的語を to以下の行為に向かわせる「to不定詞を用いた目的語説明型（SVOC）」と相性のいい動詞
③授与型（SVOO）
They asked us some tough questions.
ask の授与型（SVOO）は、質問 (question) や、
Can I ask you a favor?
など favor と特に相性のいい形
④ask ~ for …
I asked the boss for permission to take a day off.
ask ~ for … は「～に…を求める」際に頻用される形。前置詞の for には「求めて」の使い方がある
面白い表現に

これは「it (罰・悪い状況など) を asking for (頼んでいる)」ということ
「自らトラブル を招いている・自業自得だ」と、主に警告で使われる表現

・help with ~ (～で手伝う) にも注意。with は「道具のwith」(5月号 Lesson 33) で、「～を使って助ける」といった感触。help と with は仲よし♡
