explain は 「plain (平ら) にする」ということ
鬱蒼とした森を「平ら」にして見渡せるようにする、ということであるため、力が目的語に直接及ぶ他動型（SVO）が使われる

「イラスト」という日本語からもわかるように、具体的な例などを示すことによってわかりやすく説明を行う
② demonstrate
The shop staff demonstrated how to use the knife sharpener.
demonstrate「明確に示す」
日常的には「実演による説明」実演すれば、これ以上ない明確さで伝えることができる
学術的には「証拠などを用いて明確に示す」という意味で使われたりもする
③ describe
He described the suspect’s appearance to the police.
describe「説明する・描写する」
などと訳されるが、この動詞による「説明」は、どういった特徴を持っているのか？など「描写」による説明
相手の心の中に絵を描いてあげる感触

・help me with ~ は「〜で私を助ける」。with は「道具 の with (～を使って)」の使い方。help と with はとても仲よし
・lost は「道に迷って・困って・理解できない」を表す
・more of ~ は「むしろ〜・〜に近い」を意味するため、I’m more of a visual learner. は「(聞いて学ぶというよりは) 見て学ぶタイプ」と比較のニュアンスがある
