D: Oh, that’s a good one. One I always wanted to use is “Your reputation precedes you.” But I don’t think it gets much daily use.

・in 20 minutes は「20分後」。未来の時点を表す in の使い方
B: コンピューターの電源が入っていて、スライドの準備ができていることを確認してください。あなたならできます!
Make sure your computer is on and that you have your slides ready. I know you can do it!
・make sure ~（確実に～する）の後ろに節を用いている
・on は「動いて」、「活動中」の on
・and that となっているのは、make sure に続く節であることを that で明示しているから
・have your slides ready は目的語説明型（SVOC）で、「your slides = ready の状態を have する」

・最初の文は「おうわさはかねがね」的な、初対面のあいさつで定石的なひと言。「いつも聞いています」と聞けば、相手は喜ぶはず！
