現在完了形
経験を表す現在完了形の文。
現在完了形のイメージは 「（今に）迫ってくる」
「経験」とは、過去の出来事を今に引き つけて語ること。そのため現在完了形が使われるのはたいへん自然なこと。この文では never（決して一度も～ない）を使い、典型的な経験の否定となっている。hear of は「耳にする」 程度のニュアンス。

目的語説明型（SVOC）
この文の call 以降は目的語説明型。

→ have to は「ちがいない」の背後に客観的確証があるように感じられている
