いつも語順に忠実に
Roxy has written down things we usually don’t buy.
英語を話すためには、文は語順どおり作り、語順どおり解釈しなくてはならない
この文の we usually don’t buy は「usually → not」の順で解釈すること！
「usually → not」は「私たちは普段 – 買いません」
語順を反転させ、
「we don’t usually buy」 なら「私たちはしません – 普段買うことは」
となり「普段買っているわけではない」そうした習慣はない、と述べることになります
難しく考える必要はない。英語は語順どおり解釈する。ただそれだけでよい！
これから動詞
She wants to cook Japanese food for us today.
この文では want の目的語に動詞句的内容が使われている
こうした場合「to不定詞」と「動詞-ing形」が目的語の候補となるが、
want は「to不定詞」しかとることができない
それは、この動詞が「これから動詞」だから
want は「(これから)〜したい」と色濃く「これから」を意味に含むため、矢印 (→) のイメージを持つ to を用いた「to不定詞」とベストコンビネーションになる

この文の write down は「書き留める」
単に write (書く) するだけではなく、紙の上に落とし、あとで参考にできるようにする、ということ
